Family Favorite: Baked Pasta

And no, that's not cheese on the pasta. It's actually breadcrumbs!

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

What You'll Need:
1 box of whole wheat penne
1 can of tomato paste
1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon of basil leaves
a pinch of salt/pepper
cheese (optional)

Boil the pasta as you normally would. Once it's cooked to your liking, drain the pot of the water and pour pasta into a baking pan. Pour the paste right onto the pasta; using a spatula, coat the pasta evenly in the tomato paste. Sprinkle your spices, and then finally pour the breadcrumbs over the top layer of the pasta. We normally love everything in cheese, but in an effort to make a healthy spin on this dish (which we usually cook at least once a week) we've started making it without cheese.

Bake for about 20-30 minutes.
Stirring the pasta about every 5-8 minutes.
