I bought a plain, wooden shadowbox at Michael's the other day and starting walking around the store. All of the Christmas decor was on sale, and the aisles were looking filled with clutter. I made my way through the store searching for what I could do and then I saw it:
the succulents section!
I grabbed a few succulents I liked and then went on my merry way!
I stained the shadowbox in cherry and painted a few flowers on the empty shelves. I just wanted to go for something that stayed with the garden/succulent theme, and nothing too fancy!
Using a hot glue gun, I created a moss border around the entire edge and along the shelving. But can I tell you: unused moss lying around in a Ziplock baggy just look so WRONG! LOL

This is so cute! What a creative idea :) Thanks for linking up to Let's Get Real!

Love this idea. i received a roll of moss ribbon as a gift - I think it would be perfect to edge the box. And I would not have to label the roll :>))) Tiny succulents - so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI saw moss ribbon at the store the other day! I almost bought that, actually! Have you thought about what else you may do with it? I love moss!

How adorable! My daughters would love to make their own for their rooms. And I laughed that you had to label your "not weed" bag. Thanks for sharing at Inspire Us Thursday on Organized 31.

Wow you had me a little when I first seen the bag :-}. What a great creative idea, and the cherry color is so pretty. It would look great in any room! Very creative. Thanks for sharing your creativeness last week at Sunday's Best, you helped make the party a success.
ReplyDeleteCathy, that's funny! Yes, I had no idea when I first put it out that it would appear sketchy, but my husband quickly had me label the bag and we laughed about it for a while! Thank you so much for coming by and saying hello! You are awesome!! I've always loved My 1929 Charmer! :)

Love the cute shelf!! Would like one for in the kitchen. Thx 4 sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!
DeleteHave a great day, Lori!

Not sure if you made this with live or artificial succulents, but either way it's adorable. They say having greenery about, even if it's fake, lowers your blood pressure and puts you in a better state of mind. I'll have to try adding some little plants to my decor.
ReplyDeleteI will admit--they are fake. I am super busy usually and don't want to risk letting real succulents die Haha! I hope you can forgive me ;) But yeah, I have heard that about the blood pressure--so cool!
DeleteHave a great weekend & thanks for coming by,
~Cathy~
This is so creative!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis is a really cute idea. A little shelf would look great in just about any room. And the "not weed" labeled bag cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteHaha I am glad you got a kick out of that!

This is very cute. It would be interesting to have mirrored panes or glass panes like an actual window instead of just painted wood. Thank you for sharing this craft post.
ReplyDeleteOh that would be cool! I agree :)
DeleteHave a great day,
~Cathy~
