Getting Ready for MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron! Our Marvel Movie Marathon Party

We had such a blast last night at our Marvel movie marathon party! We spent time with our good friends and their kids, and we all had fun catching up with our favorite Marvel superheroes: The Avengers! Leading up to the party, I was so stoked to plan and prepare some cute and homemade touches to make the party feel special. I prepared some Avengers themed food like Hulk Green Guacamole, Hawkeye Chicken Wings, Black Widow Punch, and a kids' 5 layer cake (with each layer representing one of their favorite Avengers)!

Check out how our party turned out and all of the Avengers goodies we had:

Hawkeye Chicken Wings:

Everyone who was going to be at our party loves chicken wings, so we knew it would be the perfect party food! For our wings, we wanted something a little spicy so we used our favorite hot sauce to marinate the wings.

Rinse and dry your chicken wings to prepare them. Also, trim off some excess fat to make them lean.

After you marinate your chicken wings, toss them in breading and again in hot sauce. Once you've breaded your wings and coated them in a second layer of hot sauce, throw them in the oven and bake them at 350 degrees (Fahrenheit) for 18-20 minutes.

Hulk Green Guacamole:

Guacamole a family staple for us, and it's very common for most families in Arizona to eat it. We wanted to serve some yummy, Hulk-inspired guacamole for our party!

Our basic guacamole recipe calls for: 2 avocados, 1 juiced lime, and salt and pepper for taste. To prepare the guacamole, we peeled and mashed the avocados first. Then, we stirred in the juiced lime well until we got the desired texture we wanted (on the thick side).

After it was prepared, we threw it back in the fridge for about 1 hour and then took it out when we were ready to serve it with some tasty, Avengers-themed chips! The kids loved it with their Doritos!

Avengers 5 Layered Cake:

Our Avengers cake makes 5 miniature layers of cake that equals one full cake. You can also opt to use a full-size cake for each layer, depending on how large your party is and how many people you need to accommodate

The recipe we used for our white cake is from Add a Pinch blog--for her recipe, click here

Putting together the cake was such a blast! It's a fun activity for the whole family, and a really easy way to get the kids involved in the prep for the party!

We picked a different color for each layer of the cake to represent each of our favorite Avengers!

This cake was the highlight of the party! Everyone wanted a slice and the cake was almost completely gone at the end of the party!

These Avengers action figures served as the perfect cake topper for our party, and then the kids were able to play with them after we had some cake!

Black Widow Punch:

This awesome punch is fruity and refreshing--perfect for mom, dad, and all of the kids to enjoy!

To make our Black Widow Punch, you will combine: 1 gallon of all-natural cranberry juice, 3 cups of lemonade, 1 cup of blueberry juice, and a few lemon slices. Serve over ice (or in this fun container)!

Avengers Temporary Tattoo Mason Jars:

So first what you'll want to do is make sure your mason jars and clean and dry.

Then, you can pick out one (or a few!) of your temporary tattoos and plan how you want it to look.

Cut out the temporary tattoos from your tattoos sheet (if needed), and then using a wet cloth: apply pressure to the mason jar for 1-2 minutes. Peel back one corner slowly and gently to check and see if the tattoo transferred fully.

Now you've got yourself some heroic mason jars to either drink out of (or you can use for storage!)

Avengers Snacks:

Stocking up on snacks is something I always look forward to! For our Avengers party planning, I headed down to Walmart and picked up some awesome snacks like Cheez-Its, Doritos, and Dr. Pepper. What's really neat too is that all of these snacks have Avengers packaging! So it fits right into our party theme.

While you're out shopping and waiting in line to buy groceries, why not check out the Super Heroes Assemble app on the App Store and Google Play Store? It's a neat app for superheroes like you!

Avengers Hero Straw Flags:

If you're looking for a small touch to make your serving glasses extra special, you can make little straw flags inspired by the characters from The Avengers!

To make these straw flags, you'll want to have some ribbon picked out first! Then, use scissors to cut it into 2 inch (give or take) wide pieces, and then use a hot glue gun to adhere the sides together.

Using scissors, trim the flag at the end. To make the flag shape, cut a triangle shape out of the ribbon. Then, you can use just a tiny amount of glue to adhere the ribbon flag to the straw.

Serve your straw flags with your The Avengers themed glasses for extra fun!

These little cups are the perfect use for all of those extra mason jars you likely have around your house, too! If you are anything like me, you have at least a few extras you are not already using.

Chalkboard "AVENGERS" Sign:

We wanted a little something extra to spruce up our tablescape for our party setup by our front door, so what better way to make use of some of these extra chalkboard signs I had lying around than to decorate for our Avengers party! For this projects, we used: a hanging chalkboard sign, cosmetic sponge, stencils, and white chalk paint.

Using tape, attach the stencil to the chalkboard sign. With just a small amount of white chalk paint on the cosmetic sponge, dap the sponge gently and fill in the stencil. Allow it to dry, lift the stencil from the board, and grab another letter to complete the process (and spell out the word)!

We thought our chalkboard sign was the perfect way to compliment this amazing, Avengers character party banner!

Avengers Party Gear:

These Hulk hands were such a hoot and the kids loved them!

These Hulk hands are super fun for everyone--no matter how old or young they are!

And not to mention these awesome masks we were all wearing at some point or another!

We heard a lot of "HULK SMASH!" throughout the party--I am SO glad we bought these masks and the Hulk hands at Walmart!

We got psyched up for MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron by re-watching some of our favorite scenes from the Iron Man franchise before we sat down to watch The Avengers dvd we bought at Walmart.

There are some fantastic MARVEL movies on sale right now at Walmart, too!

We are all so excited for MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron! What better way to celebrate the upcoming movie debut than re-watching The Avengers?

We even had a little bit of fun with a marshmallow shooter! I bought a marshmallow mini bow at Walmart and spray painted it black--even my husband played around with it!

Hawkeye Marshmallow Shooter:

First, you want to invest in a plastic marshmallow shooter (or mini bow). Clean it and remove any stickers if you can ahead of time.

Spray paint both sides in black and let it sit overnight to dry.

Even some of the adults got in on the fun! Adam wanted to practice and aim for Ultron--I think he's in denial and believes that he's actually Hawkeye! Ha!

We are beyond excited to see MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron in theaters on May 1!  Are you headed to the movie theater next month to see it, too?

I will most likely not be going to see the movie. We're on a super tight budget, so we have to wait until things are released right now :(
