Our Mini Family: Sriracha, Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Grilled Cheese

Sriracha, Bacon Lettuce and Tomato Grilled Cheese

Did you know that it's National Grilled Cheese Month this month?

YUP! How awesome is that? I love grilled cheese (OK, who am I kidding? I love anything with cheese in it). So anytime this month when you're making some grilled cheese, you should know that you're a trendy guy/gal and celebrating with the rest of America. For me, I wanted to take the American classic that is grilled cheese and elevate it to something a bit more #foodie!

So, that is why I am sharing my Sriracha, bacon lettuce and tomato grilled cheese with you today:

OK, so it's not just straight up Sriracha out of the bottle but it's actually Sriracha mayo. Have you ever made Sriracha mayo before? If not, you are really missing out! It's super tasty. And very easy to make.

To make our grilled cheese, you'll need:
  • Bread
  • Muenster Cheese
  • Fresh Tomato
  • Bacon
  • Lettuce
  • Mayo
  • Sriracha Sauce
  • Butter (or margarine)

The key to making Sriracha mayo? Well, there isn't really a secret. It's just about finding the ratio of mayo: Sriracha that you like. I used 1/4 cup of mayo and 1 tablespoon of Sriracha for my mayo.

When you're making your grilled cheese, you want to butter the bread on one side and then place the buttered side outwards (so that's the side that touches the pan on the stovetop). Most people have made grilled cheese before in their life, but just in case you haven't I wanted to make sure I let you know how to do it ;-)

When layering inside your sandwich, I recommend if you have holes in your bread (like I do) that you layer the outer parts of your sandwich with the lettuce or tomato; although melted cheese is amazing, I would hate for your cheese to melt so much so that it fell out of your sandwich and spilled all over the pan! So, keep the cheese slices in the middle part of the sandwich instead.

Grill it on your stovetop on medium-high heat and flip your sandwich occasionally; brown it until you have it as crispy as you desire! And then enjoy!
