Every week or so, usually right before I go on a big trip to the grocery store, I like to clean out my refrigerator and freezer. Keeping the place where I store my foods clean is not only appealing, but it's also important to keep my meals from ever being contaminated. Today, I'm sharing my very own refrigerator and freezer cleaning routine with all of you, and I've made my cleaning checklist available for download!

And as you can see, I really needed to clean and organize the refrigerator! In the picture above, that really is what it looked like before I did any cleaning or organizing of any kind. When I am getting ready to do my weekly clean up, I print out my checklist and grab a pencil and pad of paper.

You can download the PDF of the checklist here, or you can use the embedded window below.

I never want to spend my whole day cleaning--I mean, who does? When I have some cleaning chores I need to do, I want to be efficient (and also fast)! My cleaning routine has a rhythm to it; so if a project in the kitchen like cleaning the refrigerator and freezer takes longer than normal, it's probably put me behind schedule with everything else I need to do that day. Consistent cleaning on a regular basis is what keeps our home healthy and happy.

Having a clean refrigerator and freezer is important for many reasons, so it's important to keep the right kinds of cleaning supplies around at all times.

In my checklist, I mentioned a few specific products that I use when I clean my kitchen: Clorox Pump 'N Clean Kitchen & Dish CleanerClorox Triple Action Dust Wipesand Clorox ScrubSingles Bathroom Pads. All three of these products are crucial when it comes to my every day cleaning in and around the kitchen. They let me just clean up my mess and go.

Target carries these Clorox® cleaning products that I use--they actually have a promotion going on from June 7-July 4, where you can get 10% off select Clorox® products at Target just by using the Cartwheel app.

These Clorox ScrubSingles Bathroom Pads are my go-to wipes for sticky stains of any kind--Adam loves his syrup on his pancakes, but I definitely don't love having to clean up drippy syrup in the refrigerator!

Having a clean and semi-organized refrigerator before I do some grocery shopping is such a relief! I'm confident going to the grocery store that I not only know exactly what I need to stock up on, but also that my kitchen it prepped and ready for organizing and storing fresh produce and meats. Also, have you ever tried to clean out a fridge that's completely full? Not fun, and takes way too long.

Having a nearly empty and messy freezer isn't a lot of fun either!

Does your freezer look similar to mine right now? Luckily, I had my Clorox® cleaning products so I could take care of the freezer after I cleaned out my refrigerator!

Not too long ago, I left a can of soda in the freezer and totally forgot about it. The next day, I went into the freezer to get some ice and in that moment I remembered, "uh oh, I forgot the soda!" The mess was the worst! It was so sticky and completely frozen--Clorox Pump 'N Clean Kitchen & Dish Cleaner and Clorox ScrubSingles Bathroom Pads saved me a lot of time on the clean up, though! They easily tackled the tough mess first, and then let me just pump & go to clean it up after.

Now that I have gone through my cleaning checklist with my Clorox® products, I can grocery shop with confidence--and I'm not ashamed to let a friend take a peek in our refrigerator and freezer, either!

What's your cleaning routine for your refrigerator and freezer?

  3. This is so awesome! My ridge needs cleaning in the worst way and it is always really hard to scrub so this would be perfect. Definitely getting this the next time I'm at the store for my fridge!

  4. a clean refrigerator is a dream in my house, especially when you have 2 monster fridges! :-( I think we get around to cleaning it once a year, but hardly anything stays in it long enough to really warrant a cleaning! That being said, our main fridge has fallen victim to the "lost and forgotten" cheeses and preserves, so I think a thorough scrubbing and disinfecting may be in order! :p Thanks for reminding me!

    1. Wow 2 fridges must be really difficult to maintain! I can only imagine--it's enough with just the one, let alone 2! I know what you mean about the lost and forgotten preserves and such! It happens. And you're most welcome, Meagan!

  5. I haven't seen the Clorox ScrubSingles, definitely going to look for them at the store. Last time my fridge/freezer had a deep clean we had lost power for 3 days. Bright side was after pitching all the contents, I had a very clean fridge/freezer to restock.

    1. Oh no! Losing power is bad enough, let alone having to throw everything in the fridge and freezer away! But that's good you made use of that opportunity and gave it a clean :)

  6. seriously this was needed! haha I just need to utilize it now! NOTHING is worse than waiting too long to clean your fridge/freezer and then it's super messy and gross when you do take the time to clean it
