Why Being a Full-Time Blogger is Invigorating and Empowering

Anyone who knows me can probably attest to the fact that I am passionate about blogging.

When I initially started “Our Mini Family”, I had only done it to keep my wedding inspiration concentrated in one place (without annoying all of my friends and family on social media); over time, the blog transformed as I did, and before I knew it I was blogging regularly and having difficulty keeping up while I was working in another full-time job. When it got to the point that I realized I could make a living as a blogger, I held my breath, and I took a leap of faith (mind you, this "leap of faith" was more like a "jump of intent"--Adam and I had planned out milestones to reach before I gave my two weeks notice at my old job and fully committed to the blog).

The first few weeks as a full-time blogger were exciting and frantic. I had difficulty at first learning how to pace myself, but as I grew, I learned how empowering it is to be able to create my own schedule. I am my own boss! It's truly a blessing, and I am proud to say I have worked my butt off to get here! But the benefits I've already seen from being a professional blogger are absolutely priceless. I've been able to provide for my family by doing what I genuinely love, and I am so grateful to be in such a good place! And much like the Glade® Blue Odyssey™ Large Candle, life working as a full-time blogger is truly invigorating!

Leading an invigorating life isn't all that complicated. It all boils down to breaking boundaries that your older self once constructed out of thin air. Growing up, I was told, "You can do what you want! But the smart thing to do is to follow this path down here!" Eager to please my loved ones, I followed said path and found nothing but stress and sleepless nights. My creative soul wept.

Decades into the future, I hope that I can reflect on this experience and praise the bold and scary choices I have made; I'm eager for my future self to be able to say that I genuinely had no regrets about leaving my highly competitive, corporate job to be a blogger. This may sound cliché, but my ultimate goal is to be proud and embrace taking the road less traveled. I've never felt that I would lead a cookie cutter life, and I've always wanted to find a way to express myself through a creative and innovative outlet. When I am old and gray, I want to look back on my life and think, "good for you, kid."

Feeling empowered is simultaneously a terrifying and beautiful thing. Now that I'm the one in charge of my own success and I'm my own boss, the depth of my future success is endless. When I became a full-time blogger, I set myself up to be as successful as I want to be. Just let that sink in. It's truly scary and amazing to know that the future is in my hands, and yet, I am so excited and ready to see what the rest of my future holds.

Now that I've mentioned how excited I am to see what my future holds, how about we see if we give you a chance to change your own future? From now through 8/21, if you buy Two Glade® Large Candles at Walmart, you can get a $5 prepaid virtual debit card! (visit GladeCandleReward.com/bloggers for more details).  Plus, there is a Glade®
sweepstakes which is awesome--I know I could definitely use a $500 gift card, but since I can't enter, you're just going to have to win the giveaway for me! :-)

This candle is lovely! It has a long burn time (up to 60 hours) and smells incredibly invigorating. Since the moment I bought it at Walmart, I've been enjoying having it lit next to me while I'm working on my blog.

Where do you buy your candles? If you're headed to Walmart, be sure to look out for their deal: Buy 2 Glade® Blue Odyssey™ Large Candles (9.2 oz. size) at Walmart and receive a $5 virtual gift card!

What makes you feel invigorated?

  12. I love candles, as a fellow FT blogger, my house ends up with many different smells due to my love of international foods. Candles have become a great neutralizer.
