Yay! It's officially Christmas card season! When I was younger, I never understood the whole card exchange ordeal; as an adolescent, I thought it was time-consuming, expensive, and a complete nuisance. As I stand here today at twenty-six years young, I can tell you that sending and receiving Christmas cards is now one of my favorite parts of the holiday season! Nothing gives me more joy now than hanging up beautiful cards filled with photos of our friends and family on our Christmas tree!
Admittedly, it's been a few years since Adam and I have sent out personalized Christmas cards. The last few years, card-sending season totally snuck up on me and I completely forgot to design and send them out; but every year, like clockwork, our friends and family continue to send us a card regardless of whether or not we sent them one last year. It's so thoughtful! I'd had enough with missing out on this wonderful yearly tradition, so this year I partnered with Staples to make some personalized cards and gifts for our closest friends and family! Today, I'm sharing the details from our order through Staples Copy & Print services and sharing my story of how I tricked my husband into taking our Christmas card photo.
|Shoutout to all of the blogger husbands out there--especially mine! Love ya, Mr. Mini!|
It's pretty difficult to impress my husband--he hates seeing photos of himself. Unlike me, Adam cringes at the thought of having to get dressed up to take a photo to send to our friends and family. During our last staycation and before we went out for lunch, I may or may not have tricked my sweet husband into taking some photos for our Christmas card. I know, I know! It's sounds kind of mean, but I promise it was painless for him (mostly, haha).
I brought along our tripod on our mini getaway, and before we left our hotel room I told him how handsome he looked and how "now would be a great time to take our picture!" Adam sighed, and with a little bit of encouragement, we took photos. To my surprise, Adam looked at the viewfinder of my DSLR and was really happy with the photo we took! And then that's when I sprung my surprise on him and clued him in on my plan of using the photo for our Christmas cards! He laughed, complimented me on my trickery, and then we promptly left our room to go enjoy our lunch date. Getting the photo was easy enough, but then I had to worry about actually designing our card (which I am not good at).
Now, I would normally pride myself on my creativity and ability to come up with something cute and festive, but for whatever reason when it comes to Christmas cards I completely blank out; when I go to sit down to design a card on the computer I feel uninspired and overwhelmed by all of the designs I could draw up and all of the shapes of photo collages I could choose from. Ever since I tried Staples Copy & Print services I have felt such a relief! All of the pre-made holiday card designs are awesome and there is a great variety of card themes to choose from. Perhaps my favorite part about designing our Christmas card was how there was a spot to include a personalized note about our year--we do our best to stay in touch with all of our friends and family who don't read the blog on a regular basis, so I thought that this little note inside of our card this year was a nice touch.
Designing our Christmas card this year was a breeze. After I ordered our cards online, I took a look through all of the other custom photo gift ideas on the Staples Copy & Print services site. There were a number of different gifts to choose from, and since I was still feeling partially guilty for tricking Adam into taking our Christmas card photo, I pulled him aside to my computer and begged him for his guidance to try to narrow down our personalized gift choices. We consulted on some of the gifts and finally ended up designing and choosing a coffee mug, two Christmas ornaments, and a mouse pad.
Although I may have tricked my husband into taking our Christmas card photo, we are both genuinely really happy that we actually have a personalized card to send out to our friends and family! Thanks to Staples helping us out this season and making designing a Christmas card totally stress-free!
