Learn more about "working staycations" and why they are a must for those who work-from-home. This post is brought to you by Radisson Hotels and their #TakeMeThereSweepstakes!
Working from home is becoming increasingly popular.
I remember when I started working from home 5 years ago and how so many people found it very peculiar and also intriguing. Today it would seem that almost half of our friends and family members work from home for at least some part of their work week in some sort of capacity. With the work-from-home trend not going anywhere anytime soon, I recently discovered a new way to spark productivity while completing my work-from-home to-do list and how to have a little fun in the process: working staycations!
What is a "Working Staycation" and Why Should I Take One?
A "working staycation" is just what you would think it is. A working staycation is simply the act of renting a hotel room in and around your city, and bringing your work-from-home office to a hotel room that is free from family and home-life distractions!
For the last two weeks of my life, Adam and I have been either traveling or seeing family. It's been a great time no doubt, but once my mom left after visiting with us for a week I found myself surrounded by an endless amount of chores and cleaning that I needed to do. Meanwhile, my blogging to-do list is a mile long and I started to feel anxious and as if I were unable to focus on completing my work-from-home while having so much to do in our house to clean up. That's when I decided to take a working staycation.
After packing an overnight bag with my laptop and charger, I took a quick trip to downtown near the airport and checked into the Radisson.
The Radisson at the Phoenix airport had everything I needed to get my work done--complimentary wi-fi, a large desk to sit at with my laptop and my other electronics (with a coffee pot right next to me when I want some caffeine), a restaurant to dine at when I was hungry, and most importantly a workspace free from distraction. My blogging to-do list coming back from Boston and after my mom was staying with us felt like it was a mile-long.
After my stay at the Radisson, I left the hotel feeling completely caught up on all of my work and that I was ready to tackle my chores at home (e.g. an epic pile of laundry, a week's worth of dishes, an empty fridge needing to be re-stocked, etc).
