Adam and I will be working all weekend long since we had our "weekend" over this past Tuesday and Wednesday. We spent some much-needed time away from the office and decided to walk around the outdoor mall, and as soon as we came home from our outing we grabbed our stuff and headed down to the pool.
As I've mentioned in the past, Adam and I always strive to come up with different and inexpensive date night ideas, so we can keep our weekly date night fresh and interesting. Since it is so hot outside this time of year, we both like to enjoy an at-home date by spending time together outside at our pool!
Today, I'm sharing this affordable date idea as well as a tutorial on the five necessary items to include in your beach bag to make sure your date at the pool is a success!
By the way, this outfit I'm wearing always gives me so much confidence when I wear it for our date night! I love looking nice at the pool, and especially when Adam and I are having a poolside date night either at home or at one of the local resorts in town with the fancier pools. Before we head out to the pool, I always make sure I pack a beach bag filled the necessary items I need to enjoy a poolside date with my hubby.
Cold water 💦
Staying hydrated is so very important in Arizona in the summertime. Dehydration can be very common in the desert if you are not mindful enough about drinking enough water. Before Adam and I head out to the pool, we always grab an extra large bottle and fill it with ice cold water (and on those extra hot days, we'll bring a frozen bottle of water that will thaw enough to drink it once we've spent some time at the pool).
Lip balm 💄
If you've ever tried to smooch you hubby with dry lips before then you must know why lip balm is on my list! But other than the fact that dry and chapped links are uncomfortable, it's always a good idea to bring some lip balm that has SPF in it with you when you head to the pool.
If you are planning on spending more than an hour at the pool, definitely make sure to bring sunglasses with you! Aside from the discomfort of the bright sun shining in your eyes, you'll want to wear protective sunglasses to shade your eyes from the sun.
I remember one time when I was in middle school and I got a sunburn on my head--and let me tell you, that was one of the most painful and uncomfortable sunburns I've ever had! Anytime before Adam and I go to the pool, we both make sure to bring a hat with us. Adam usually brings a baseball cap with him, and I get to wear one of my pretty sun hats!
Any afternoon at the pool calls for sunscreen! This past date night we had when we were enjoying some time together by the pool, I brought the new Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Weightless Lotion Sunscreen Pump with me in my beach bag. We always apply our sunscreen before we head outside, but I also bring it with me to the pool so we can re-apply it throughout the afternoon.
What I really like about Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Weightless Sunscreen is that it feels really lightweight and that I could barely feel it on my skin. My skin can get really dry this time of year, so the added moisture leaves my skin feeling really soft and smelling like the sunscreen's island botanical formula even after spending an afternoon out in the sun at the pool.
I was able to pick up some Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Weightless Sunscreen and Hawaiian Tropic® Silk Hydration Face Lotion at Target (and then I promptly spent an embarrassing amount of time rummaging through everything in the dollar section after that).
