Whether you're a college student headed to class, a mom getting her kids ready for school, or someone who prefers to save money and eat healthier by packing a lunch for work, your lunch doesn't have to be boring.
I remember the days of bringing my lunch to school every day all the way through high school. I was fortunate enough to have my mom help me and pack a lunch for me, but my packed lunches never seemed interesting or unique. Every day, I'd have the same thing for lunch in the same old brown paper bag while I was in school. That is until I went to college!
While I was studying at Arizona State University, I learned very quickly how expensive it can be when you buy your lunch every day because you don't have a student meal plan. And I mean I truly learned the hard way (let's just say there is a reason that people joke about how a college student's diet consists of mostly ramen noodles!) But after I learned from my real-life challenges of spending money and going out to eat every day, I started to truly learn how to pack my own lunch.
My first few lunch boxes at college were pretty normal--I remember packing my lunch box with a turkey/cheddar/lettuce sandwich, an apple, and a cookie every single day. After the first week, I had the urge to go back to the dining center after class, cough up like $20 to buy some sushi for lunch, and then head out to another class. But I decided to fight the urge. That's when I began switching things up and getting creative with my packed lunches.
You do not need to spend an hour a day preparing an over-the-top lunch to take to work or school, but you do need some forethought and some essential supplies to make your life easier. I'm sharing seven key items that I use when I am preparing creative lunch box ideas over on eBay in my first eBay guide--click here to see my recommended lunch box supplies and read my "7 Back to School Lunch Box Ideas" post on eBay.
How do you like to switch things up for lunch every day?
