Admire white sand as far as the eye can see as you fuel your love for adventure at White Sands in New Mexico! Just 30 minutes east of Las Cruces, you can sled down these rare, white gypsum sand dunes.
This past week, we drove over 1300 miles!
Our adventure started as we worked our way south through Tucson, across the Arizona border into New Mexico, and then spending the night in Alamogordo. After a very light breakfast, we made our way up toward Holloman Air Force Base and visited the White Sands National Monument.
It didn't really occur to me until after our day was over that I have always wanted to go sledding down a sand dune! When we rolled up to the visitor's center at White Sands I had no idea that we'd be going sledding that day. It wasn't until we talked to one of the rangers that we realized we could rent sleds and spend our morning climbing and then gliding down these rare, gorgeous dunes.
We had such a fun day!
I am so glad we made travel plans to explore New Mexico, and I am thankful that Toyota was kind enough to invite us to travel and meet them in Albuquerque to celebrate the Toyota Corolla's 50th birthday. And to think we almost didn't venture out of Arizona a day early! I am so glad we made the adventure to explore southern New Mexico, and that I can now say I have gone sledding down the dunes and mark it off of my bucket list!
