Nothing beats lounging around in a comfy robe and slippers with a warm cup of coffee on a chilly winter morning! I remember one Christmas when I was younger, Santa brought me the comfiest slippers and pajamas I had ever worn and I lounged around in them in our living room all day enjoying all of my new toys.

This past weekend, I spent a healthy amount of time relaxing and unwinding from a crazy week. Everyone deserves time to stop and just unwind, but sometimes it can be difficult to do that if you don't have anything around you that feels as comfy as you want to be! Let's face it--we all wish we had a soft, warm robe to cuddle up on the couch in but most of us don't take the time to invest in something like that for ourselves.

Gift giving season is here and today I'm sharing my tutorial on how to put together the ultimate, comfy and cozy gift basket! If you're looking for a thoughtful gift basket for a good friend or loved one, a gift basket curated with cozy and comfortable presents is the perfect choice!

Now that you're feeling like you want to lounge around in a robe and drink coffee all day, let's talk gift basket ideas!

Everyone knows we all want comfortable clothes like cozy bathrobes and warm knitted slippers, but most of us cannot justify spending our money on those types of things for ourselves. What's great about giving someone a gift basket filled with comforting presents is you know they want all of these things, but they just haven't brought themselves to go to the store and buy them already!

If you're looking for help to put together the best gift basket you can, check out my tutorial checklist that will help you ensure you pack your basket with all of the right cozy and comfy presents anyone will enjoy!

DIY, Comfy Cozy Gift Basket Tutorial

When you're trying to curate all of the perfect items for your gift basket, ask yourself these questions from this checklist before you include it with your other presents: does it inspire relaxation? Is it soft to the touch? Does it bring this person joy?

Using these questions and this tutorial as your guide, you know everything you need to put together a perfect, comfy and cozy gift!

Step 1: Use a soft basket.

Most gift baskets are made of wood or plastic, but if you're aiming to put together an A+ comfy gift basket you should try to get your hands on a knitted hamper or something similar. Often times, these knitted baskets or hampers are seasonal and found in the Christmas section of most stores. However, I have seen them in many department stores and they are found in the laundry/home section. Just because it's not your traditional gift basket doesn't mean it won't be perfect for storing your curated presents!

Step 2: Include comfy clothing and footwear.

The staple of any cozy gift basket is something comfortable to wear. The most common items you can include range from bathrobes to pajamas and slippers to comfy socks. You really can't go wrong with this as long as whatever you choose is super soft to the touch and universal in size (if you're unsure if the pajamas or robe will fit, always go one size up!)

Step 3: Include an activity to do that inspires relaxation.

One element of a gift basket that is often forgotten is the activity item. This item should give someone a reason to sit down and spend time some relaxing and unwinding. A few options for this include: an adult coloring book, a puzzle, a book, a subscription to a TV streaming service, etc. The opportunities are endless--think about what this person enjoys doing and go from there!

Step 4: Give them something to complement their favorite food or drink.

Finding food or drink items someone will love can be very hit or miss--rather than focusing on their actual favorite comfort food (e.g. baked goods, coffee/tea, chocolates), think of something that compliments their favorite food. For instance, if you know someone who loves to drink coffee every morning, why not find a coffee mug that makes you think of them! Or maybe if their favorite food is macaroni and cheese, you can find a recipe book that shares delicious mac and cheese recipe ideas.

Step 5: Include something that smells warm and inviting.

No gift basket is complete without something that smells amazing! The simplest and easiest way to meet the perfect gift basket criteria is to include a candle or two. Try to aim for something seasonal like fall or winter themes--some of my favorite fragrances include Homemade Pumpkin Pie, Moonlit Night, and Fall Morning by American Home™ by Yankee Candle®. These American Home™ by Yankee Candle® products make for a wonderful holiday gift idea!

I was able to find everything in this gift basket at my neighborhood Walmart, including the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® products. When you pick up your American Home™ by Yankee Candle® fragrances, be sure to follow the instructions and safety procedures exactly.
