Our Mini Family: Date Night Idea | Donating Groceries Together

Date Night Idea | Donating Groceries Together

Looking for a "do good, feel good" idea for your next date night? Spend quality time with your loved one while you support your community by donating groceries to a local food bank!

My love of giving back emerged when I joined my sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, which was born from the idea of giving back to one's community at large and spreading positivity through sisterhood and community service.

My friends at Toyota USA reached out to me and offered to help Adam and I spread some good in our community here in Phoenix! When they offered to deliver $75 worth of groceries in the 2017 Camry XSE to our home to lend us a hand in giving back this holiday season I was so happy!

After we got our Toyota delivery, we got ready and began our "do good, feel good" date! We searched for and found a local food bank we wanted to support, and then we plugged the address into the Camry XSE navigation and went on our way.

We chose to spend our date night by supporting our local Salvation Army and donating a carload of groceries--and needless to say, it felt great! Adam and I were so inspired by the Toyota #SeasonofGiving initiative that we redeemed some of our grocery gift cards to donate even more non-perishable items that day.

We may not have had a fancy meal or had a romantic night to ourselves, but we both felt like we were helping others and that brought us a unique joy that no other date night has ever done before!

Would you spend your date night donating groceries, or doing some other type of community service?

  5. We always say we wish we did more things like this- what a perfect way to knock out two things at once (while building a great bond). I also love this for a parent-child date or even a girls' night!

  8. This is a great idea. Unfortunately, due to our busy schedules, we don't have too many date nights in a month. Hence I don't think I'll be able to compromise one night of closeness any soon :( But I'll definitely do this, as my boyfriend and I always want to try something new, plus we both are charitable :)

    1. Hey, I totally get it! Adam and I are always busy right before and right after Christmas since he has to work so much mandatory overtime at work (we get the same way with our busy and opposing schedules). That is great you're interested in doing this for a date night in the future, though! :D
