Nothing says summer like a fresh slice of watermelon (and a glass of lemonade!)
With all of the cookouts we have been having this summer, it has been great to be able to have so many of our friends come over and host them for an afternoon by the pool while enjoying some barbecue (and even for some indoor game nights on those days when the weather has been in the triple digits and too hot to hang out together outdoors!) But no matter the occasion and where we are having our summer hangout, we always like to serve delicious food and refreshing drinks!
This sparkling watermelon lemonade has been a hit all summer! Made with freshly juiced watermelon, Minute Maid® Lemonade, and Sprite® it's packed with flavor and sweet enough to cool you down on the hottest of summer days!
Sparkling Watermelon Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of watermelon juice
- 1 cup of Minute Maid® Lemonade
- 1 cup of 1/2 cup of Sprite®
- Slice up about 4 cups of watermelon and toss them in a blender or juicer.
- Blend (or juice) the watermelon until it is a juice consistency.
- Pour the watermelon juice into a glass along with the Minute Maid® Lemonade and Sprite®. Stir well.
- Enjoy a glass of sparkling watermelon lemonade with some ice cubes and top off your glass with a watermelon-shaped decoration!
To create a star-shaped watermelon drink decoration I used: watermelon, a sharp knife, and a star-shaped cookie cutter!
First, I sliced the watermelon into halves and then into quarters, and then sliced a flat piece from the quarter. I laid the watermelon slice onto a plate and placed the cookie cutter on top of the watermelon and pressed down gently.
Then, I removed the excess watermelon from around the cookie cutter and sliced a small vertical cut on the star, and placed the watermelon star on the glass on the split (so that it sits right on the rim of the glass!)
Share a slice of summer with some fresh watermelons and some refreshing Minute Maid Lemonade (this sparkling watermelon lemonade recipe idea is the perfect way to enjoy your Minute Maid® Lemonade!) I grabbed everything I needed for my sparkling watermelon lemonade at our local Fry's food store (including my adorable watermelon-themed serrated knife!) Right now they have this great offer: Buy any 2 Minute Maid or Sprite 2 liters and save $1 off your watermelon purchase!
Next time you head out to Fry's, make sure to keep your eye out for the 2-liter toppers and tear pad with coupons for additional savings! Minute Maid® Lemonade and Sprite® are perfect for all of your summer drinks and great to have around for weekend cookouts, parties, and any other times you're having friends and family come over to your house!
