Our Mini Linky Party | Week 159

Anxiety was ever-present in my life this week, and it was quite hard trying to get anything accomplished when I felt the way that I did.

My anxiety pops up throughout the year for different reasons and is often triggered by certain dates. My late grandfather's birthday was this week, and I found myself not wanting to get out of bed and thinking about him and all of the opportunities I didn't take to sit down with him and just listen him tell me more about his life. It was only after I had graduated from college and he began to get very sick and we were living in Massachusetts for a short time that I made time for my gramps. I knew he was not well and it was likely that when we moved to Arizona it would be the last time that I saw him. Although I did end up seeing him a couple more times between that moment of realization and when I got the devastating call from my hysterical mom to tell me that he had passed, I had only made that time for him because I knew he was dying.

This week, with all of my anxiety and my grief, I reflected and realized that we all must strive to do better to stay in touch with loved ones that mean the most to us in life. Even when it inconveniences us.

I found a desperate glimmer of positivity this week when I had this thought about how I can still take the time I have with those whom I love now, and try to feel less regret when they eventually pass on and are no longer walking beside us. I have a handful of trips planned this year, and about half of them involve seeing family and my life-long friends whom we now consider a part of our family. Even with all of the deadlines and the distractions around us, we need to take the time to see and speak to people we care about and love before the opportunity is taken away from us.

Check out the features from this week:

DIY Rustic 3-Tier Tray from AKA Design
