Celebrating our 7th Wedding Anniversary at The Hermosa Inn

This past weekend, Adam and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary with a staycation. Today, I am sharing the details of our romantic, wedding anniversary weekend media stay at The Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley!

One of the many great things about living in Arizona is that we live so close to some of the country's most luxurious resorts and hotels. In the summer, when the temperature skyrockets to triple digits and the humidity settles in during monsoon season, almost all of the typical tourists that Arizona gets will opt to leave town (including many of Arizona's residences who leave the state to escape to cooler weather). The cities empty out, and with that, the prices at these four and five-star hotels go down.

We are total advocates for staycationing, and especially when it comes to the summertime! It was a no-brainer for us to choose to spend our wedding anniversary weekend in town and at a hotel that I have always wanted to visit but never got around to staying at.

I remember when my friend and I were driving in the car when I was a freshman at Arizona State, and we got some iced coffees and drove all around town drinking caffeine and chatting away. She drove me through parts of the city I had never seen before, and that is when I got my first glimpse of Paradise Valley and The Hermosa Inn. This boutique looked so beautiful and so elegant, my friend and I laughed and imagined how much money you would need to stay at a place like that. Well, fast forward almost a decade later, and I learned all about how affordable luxurious vacations can be in town during the summer time (and how they are perfect for staycations to celebrate special occasions).

This past weekend, Adam and I packed an overnight bag and drove a half hour up from our condo to stay at The Hermosa Inn to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were able to request to try to check into our room early, and luckily enough when we arrived they had a room available so we could put our stuff in our suite (and then head back out to the grounds to spend the afternoon lounging in our very own poolside cabana).

The pool at The Hermosa Inn has an intimate feel to it--this pool is not large and grandiose, but the space that they have is very well-utilized and the area is well-kept and the vegetation is beautiful. They have lush landscaping all around the pool, and our cabana was tucked a few feet towards the back of the pool area behind a little garden. We had a small walkway to get from the pool to our cabana, but since there were a few families at the pool, it was nice that we were a very quick walk away from the pool so we could escape the small crowd for a few minutes to have some quiet time in our cabana.

The cabana service was exceptional, and the best we have experienced in the valley so far! Brian, the young man who helped us with our cabana for the day, did an excellent job checking up on us and making sure we had plenty of water, answering any questions we had about the pool snacks and cabana cocktail menus, as well as bringing us all of our orders throughout the day!

After spending the afternoon relaxing at the pool and in the shade of our cabana, we retreated to our room and were welcomed with an assortment of keto-friendly (ketogenic diet) snacks! We loved that they took the extra step to learn about what kinds of foods we prefer to eat, and how they surprised us with some delicious bites to eat (and a couple of low-carb drinks) to enjoy before our dinner later that evening.

After relaxing in our room in the air conditioning, taking a shower, getting ready, and having a few of our keto-friendly snacks that the staff surprised us with, we made our way out of our room and went to our dinner reservation at LON's.

LON's at The Hermosa Inn is an upscale, Scottsdale restaurant I have always wanted to dine at but never got around to until this weekend. They have one of the most gorgeous outdoor patios, lined with rustic adobe and iron and a romantic outdoor fireplace with stunning views of the mountain. Since it is the summer, we preferred to dine indoors and the room inside was dimly lit and had a romantic atmosphere as well.

We had a lovely dinner that lasted for three courses and it was almost two hours long. The staff at LON's at The Hermosa Inn was kind and attentive, and they were able to answer any questions we had about the menu.

Adam and I sampled a number of different items from their appetizer, main course, and dessert menus along with the wine they suggested we pair with the plates. The standout dishes from our night at LON's included their truffle mac 'n' cheese, tempura maitake mushroom, pecan grilled filet mignon, LON's signature cowboy candy bar, and the s'mores bar. Towards the end of the meal, one of the managers came to our table to welcome us and brought a small sampling glass of a 20 years old port wine for us to enjoy after dessert and he wanted to wish us a happy anniversary.

Overall, we had a very lovely anniversary dinner and would say that it is right on par with the service and food quality you would expect from a Paradise Valley or nearby Scottsdale fine dining restaurant. After our meal, we retreated back to our room to relax and to finish the day with a nightcap in our suite.

The next morning, we woke up without an alarm and it was wonderful. We are already early risers, so waking up at 8:30 in the morning is definitely considered "sleeping in" for us. We took our time getting ready while enjoying the comfort of our room, and then made our way back out to LON's for brunch.

Adam and I enjoyed a small feast at brunch that was made up of both their hot and cold brew coffees, mimosas, fresh fruit, egg white and feta cheese scramble, pancakes, crispy potatoes, bacon, and their decadent breakfast take on monkey bread! We sat and enjoyed our meal for a while, and then we went back to our room to relax for a bit and then had a smooth check-out and headed back home!

One of our favorite parts of our stay at The Hermosa Inn was the service of the staff. Everyone was kind and down-to-Earth, and more than happy to do whatever they could to help make our stay exceptional. We have been to a number of hotels and resorts all around the valley, and one quality that really makes The Hermosa Inn stand out above the rest is the staff.

The inn itself was originally built in the 1930s, so unlike many of the resorts in town, it has an elegance in its history that you can feel is deeply rooted in the early development in the valley before its huge peak in tourism development. The adobe and ironwork all around the property give it a Northern Arizona appearance, and it reminded us a lot of the resorts that we have stayed at up in Sedona. Romantic and quiet, the property feels intimate and isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city--but in reality, we were only a few minutes drive from the mall and other businesses down the street.

If you're contemplating a romantic staycation in the Phoenix area, we definitely recommend The Hermosa Inn!
