Our Stay at Hotel Northland

During our visit to Green Bay, we had a chance to stay downtown at Hotel Northland. Today, we're sharing our experience visiting this Green Bay hotel during our fall trip to Wisconsin.

The moment you walk up to the Hotel Northland before you enter the building, there is an air of timeless elegance. You look beyond the marque lights that are glowing above you, enter the rotating door, and then you are facing the lobby. But before you look up again, your eyes catch the gaze of the boldly tiled floor. You begin to float across the floor feeling a sense of modernity and then just as you look up to locate the check-in lobby that is when you see it.

Original architecture from the 1920s fills the room with grandeur. The rich wood paneling and ceiling-high columns bring your eyes even further up the room and then you notice the dangling chandeliers floating just above the lobby desk.

Throughout the hotel and around every corner is a reminder of the past and a sense of modern comfort to go along with it. Rather than an understated elegance, Hotel Northland reminds you of its grace no matter which part of the hotel you are in whether it be the lobby, walking through the hallways to the gym or on your way to your room, or walking past one of their meeting spaces.

Now, let's chat a bit about my personal experience that I had at the Hotel Northland. My initial reaction to the hotel and its timeless elegance paired with its modern amenities caught my attention , and then it continued to hold my attention throughout my stay because of the friendliness, competence, and professionalism of the staff.

I had made a few inquiries before arriving including asking if they had an iron or steamer service at the hotel since some of the clothing coming with me was badly wrinkled. The woman who assisted me on the phone was very kind and assured me that each room was equipped with an iron, and should I find myself needing further assistance to contact the lobby so they could help me sort everything out. While I did not end up having any issues that needed attention while I stayed there, I feel as though if I had an issue that they'd be competent enough to handle resolving it.

Hotel Northland is right in the heart of downtown Green Bay and walking distance from the Meyer theatre, excellent restaurants, cafes, the weekend farmers market, local craft beer, and many mom-and-pop shops that will give you a chance to shop locally while you visit.

Only a short drive out to Lambeau Field and Titletown USA, Hotel Northland is the ideal spot to stay if you want to visit Green Bay for football but also make a whole weekend trip out of it (and do and see more than what's right next to Lambeau Field).

  1. That hotel is a classically beautiful place and would be great to stay at any time but especially for a football trip. My daughter is in Madison so we might try and stay there one day.
