Beauty Must Haves for Summer 2020

Summer beauty 2020 is going to be all about having a natural glam eye look, bold lips, and a focus on dewy and soft skin. See which beauty products have made our summer 2020 must-haves list!

After spending months in self-quarantine now, most of us are headed into the summer feeling as though we're ready to get outside and start living life like it's back to normal.

In the past, I have enjoyed embracing spending extra time indoors in the summer perfecting bright eyeshadows and makeup before heading out. This summer will be different, though.

Spending more time on my skincare and less time on my makeup, I am headed into the summer with every intention of extremely minimizing the amount of time I spend getting ready for my day. I am wanting a fast, easy, and carefree look that puts less emphasis on the amount of time it took to perfect my hair and makeup (and spending more time enjoying being outside with friends and loved ones).

The summer beauty trends were forecasted earlier this year to include accents like neons and intensive graphic eyeliners. I don't know if you have ever worked with neon eyeshadow before, but let's just say it is not low maintenance (and the same goes with graphic liners).

But when COVID-19 forced everyone into hiding out in their homes, most of us had been faced with more time on our hands than we knew what to do with. Forcing nearly everyone to stay where they are and stay indoors left many of us experimenting with our makeup and spending more time than we normally would creating gorgeous looks. With extra time on our hands, most of us who were on board with the neon and graphic liner trend for summer have already been creating these looks, and the trends got moved up to spring while we were all social distancing.

Instead of time-intensive beauty trends, summer 2020 is all about getting ready and getting out the door to enjoy life beyond our homes. Summer 2020 is all about natural glam eyeshadow, bold lips, and effortless dewy skin. These beauty products are the kinds of essentials that will get you prepped and ready for the day before you head out the door for your much-needed summer adventures!

Sormé Cosmetics Accented Hues Eyeshadow Palette

If you are like me and planning to keep your eyeshadow simple and straightforward this summer, I highly recommend investing in a neutral eyeshadow palette that will compliment your skin tone. With my hope that there will be an opportunity to take some much-needed road trips this summer, I want a compact and travel-friendly eyeshadow palette that will help me achieve an easy day-to-night look.

I really like the Sormé Cosmetics Accented Hues Eyeshadow Palette for a fast and easy eye look. While I do not like the applicator that comes with it, the eyeshadows are great for a quick and easy look. I usually just grab 1 large blending brush to sweep and layer the lightest colors over my eyes, and then I will go in with a dense crease brush and a darker color to add even more depth to my eyes. If I want to buff out the crease color a bit, I will just use the original blending brush to soften and blend out any harsh lines.

Glo Skin Beauty Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30+

This has been my ride-or-die tinted moisturizer for quite some time now, and I plan on ordering another one this week from Amazon. The Glo Skin Beauty Tinted Moisturizer is very lightweight and effective, and it will last me a couple of hours into the day even when I am outside in 115 degrees heat. While I prefer to wear this bare, you could also wear this tinted moisturizer underneath a layer of foundation if you were going for a more medium-to-full-coverage look. When it's hot outside in Phoenix in the dead of summer, I could not be bothered to put on a full face of full-coverage foundation unless I had every intention of staying indoors all day in the air conditioning.

Axiology Vegan Lipstick (shade name "Bonafide")

I don't plan on wearing brightly colored eyeshadows this summer, but I do plan on rocking a bold lip color with a neutral eye.

The Axiology lipstick in the shade "Bonafide" is fabulous for my skin tone, and there are so many other shades of their incredible vegan lipstick. What's really special about Axiology, apart from their creamy vegan lipstick formula, is their commitment to eco-conscious packaging and minimal ingredients. I have a few shades of their vegan lipstick, and I have a feeling I will be trying even more shades as the year goes by.

Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm

At the end of the day, a good cleansing balm will you do a lot of good!

I have tried a number of cleaning balms and they all seem to do the trick, but I especially like this one from Versed. The Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm is affordable, effective, and a gentle first step of my skincare routine.

High Beauty High Expectations Cannabis Seed Facial Oil

This High Beauty facial oil leaves my skin dewy and looking incredibly supple, and I use it every night. What I love about this oil is the versatility of it. I use it primarily on my face, but it also works wonderfully when I apply a little bit on my cuticles, hands, and feet. Just a few drops goes a long way with this oil, too.

Many reviewers with sensitive skin have said this is their holy grail facial oil. While I do not have sensitive skin, I thought this would be worth mentioning for those of you who do have sensitive skin. I had read a number of reviews about this oil before trying it because this was my first time testing out skincare oil that is made with more than 30% cannabis sativa seed oil from hemp. I cannot recommend this oil this enough!

One thing worth mentioning, though, is that it does have a particular scent to it. If you're hypersensitive to smells, you may not enjoy this scent. But I would tell you that it's worth getting past the scent because this facial oil has done wonders for my skin!

Goldfaden MD Hands to Heart Hand Cream

With all of the extra precautious handwashing that I have been doing for months due to the pandemic, it has done a number on my hands. I already have dry hands to begin with, and now with the extra handwashing on top of living in the desert, my hands need some major TLC.

I have tried nearly every hand cream in the grocery store, drug store, and a number of beauty-brand hand creams. Most of them are soothing, but then I need to reapply more hand cream immediately after I wash my hands again.

I believe I have found the holy grail of hand creams for those of us with constantly dry hands--this Hands to Heart Hand Cream from Golfaden MD has done wonders for my skin! I have immediate results with this hand cream that lasts all day and not just until I wash my hands again. My knuckles can get cracked and the tops and sides of my hands are prone to texture due to dryness, and this hand cream really works for me. If you have dry hands, you need to try this

MAGICSTRIPES Hand Repairing Gloves

Between the excessive dry heat and the amount of extra hand washing I am doing, I like to incorporate some extra TLC to my beauty routine.

In order to try to get my hands soft and feeling moisturized, I like to sit and relax while I do a hand repairing gloves treatment once a week before bed. I have tried many hand and foot masks and while they tend to feel nice, a lot of times they don't actually seem to do anything. I really enjoy this hand repairing mask from MAGICSTRIPES as it's definitely made a difference and I notice how much it helps reduce the coarseness of the tops of my hands.

Maria Nila Ocean Spray

Nothing says summer like beachy waves!

I have fine, straight hair, and I really like the way this Maria Nila Ocean Spray works with the texture of my hair. It does not feel sticky or too heavy, and after I get out of the shower, I spray it all over my hair and put my hair into a top bun to air dry while I finish getting ready. Once my hair is dry, I take it out of the bun and I have loose, natural-looking waves in my hair.

KOCOSTAR Princess Eye Patch

If you're like me and you're looking to incorporate eye patches into your nighttime skincare routine for summer, you will want to stock up on the KOCOSTAR Princess Eye Patches. They come in a pack of 30, so if you plan to do an eye patch every other day, this will last you 2 months into summer.
