Here is the original breakfast in bed tray I found on clearance at AC Moore for $3.99! When I saw it, I immediately thought "dang, I wanna coat that in chalkboard paint!" And then that's where it all began!
With a sponge, dab the wood paint onto it and then rub the wood until it is completely coated in the stain. Let it rest for at least an hour to dry, and then continue to apply coats until you've reached your desired level of darkness with your wood stain. I used a Walnut color, and bought all of my supplies from AC Moore. I opted for a darker wood polish.
Once you're happy with your wood stained tray, go ahead and start layering the chalkboard paint onto the top with a hard brush. It is very important that you let this paint completely dry before you put another coat on. Once your chalkboard paint is all set, grab some chalk and completely coat the top in it. Wipe away the chalk and blow off the excess dust, and write messages to your loved one! <3

ReplyDeleteYes!!! That is totally my favorite part of it! Adam was awake when I brought him his breakfast this time, but next time I'll try and sneak and write a little "good morning" message on the tray for him to wake up to! Thank you for stopping by! :)
