Hi friends!
There's something you need to know about Adam and I: we LOVE horror! We first started watching this show, American Horror Story, last year and we've been hooked ever since. Heck, we even went as two of the characters from the first season for Halloween last year (Tate and Moira).
This season, "Freakshow," is probably the coolest freaking thing EVER! And our favorite characters this year are Dot and Bette Tattler--the conjoined twins!
I've been so inspired by them and Sarah Paulson (the actress who is just utterly killing this role and definitely going to get an Emmy for this).
For Sarah, for the cast of AHS, for all the fans:
My Dot & Bette Inspired Cupcakes:
We used a silicone mold and white chocolate melts to get our conjoined twins cupcake topper. We also wanted to use a cupcake wrapper that was perfect to represent the AHS "Freakshow" franchise!
Want to buy the conjoined twins silicone mold? You can buy it here!
And don't forget these carnival tent cupcake wrappers too over here!
And you're probably wondering how we got 2 cupcake flavors in one, right?
These cupcakes dividers are seriously awesome, y'all!
Cupcake Directions:
Dot's "Dark & Sweet" Chocolate Chip Cupcake
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa
1/2 cup Dark Chocolate Baking Chips 1 cup wheat flour
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, very soft but not melted
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (no flavors)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup room temperature water
Bette's "Classic with a Twist" Caramel and Pecan Cupcake
Ingredients:
4 large egg whites
2 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup bleached cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup half and half
1/2 cup pecans
1/2 cup caramel melts
Baking Directions:
1. Prepare your batters in 4 separate, large mixing bowls.
2. As with other cake prep: mix your dry ingredients together first, and then your wet ingredients in another bowl. Once all ingredients are mixed, add the dry into the wet slowly and continue to whisk as you add your dry ingredients to your wet.
3. Repeat this process for your other cupcake batter.
4. Lay cupcake wrappers into baking tin.
5. Using your cupcake divider, pour your batter into each side and fill about 1/2 way up.
6. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees F.
7. Remove from oven and let cool.
8. Apply your favorite frosting (optional).
9. Use about 10 drops of red food coloring to vanilla (white) frosting achieve above color.
10. Serve & enjoy!
Conjoined Twins Topper Directions:
1. Clean your silicone mold with warm water and a bit of soap.
2. Ensure all soap residue is gone from mold and let it air dry.
3. Melt a small handful of white chocolate melts in the microwave for 1 minute (no more).
4. Mix your white chocolate with a fork until it's smooth.
5. Pour the melted chocolate slowly into the silicone mold.
6. Once mold is filled to your liking, set in the freezer for 15-20 minutes or until hardened.
7. Remove from freezer and set upside down on a plate.
8. Gently tap the backing of the mold with a spoon to loosen it.
9. Gently separate the mold from the topper and remove from silicone.
10. Using a knife, touch up the edges to your liking.
We hope you enjoyed our cupcakes!

ReplyDeleteYaassss!! We are too!! Oh my gosh we cannot wait for part 2 of the Halloween episode!
DeleteI'm a horror fan, too. But American Horror Story is way too creepy for me. (The Walking Dead is more my speed.) Even so I love your creativity. These cupcakes are GENIUS!
ReplyDeleteYeah some seasons are definitely a lot scarier than others (like Asylum was way scarier than Coven), so I hear you! My hubby loves The Walking Dead, too! But I love that you stopped by--thanks for your kind words!!
DeleteThese look delicious, and the little paddle to separate the batters is so cool!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely--love that cupcake divider so much!
DeleteThat's so cool. I didn't know that it was so easy to separate colors. This would be good for my son that can't decide which flavor he wants! Super cute American Horror Story cupcake too. I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh most definitely--it's not even colors though but actually just the entire flavor! It's a really neat experience to take a bit into a cupcake and taste 2 different types of cake at once! So yummy!
DeleteI love the caramel and pecan combination. These look just so delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you! They are delightful!
