The Best of 2015! My Top 10 Blog Posts

The year is coming to an end, and I'm so grateful for all of the opportunities I've had in 2015! I was able to start pursuing blogging full-time, and after the first few months of the year, I dedicated all of my time to brainstorming, preparing, and sharing the best recipes, tutorials, and ideas I could think of. Today, I'm reflecting back on the year that I've had and I'm sharing the top 10 posts from 2015!

The Gilbert Burger recipe post had one of my favorite images from the year--this shot I took of Adam cutting up this burger started a huge conversation on our social media with our fans. Everyone wanted a bite of our burger!

"Mansket!" Now that's a word I'm sure you don't hear very often! I had a lot of fun shopping for Adam and putting this basket together for him. My "mansket" tutorial blog post got more attention than I thought it would and it was my 2nd best DIY tutorial post of the year!

Adam and I became obsessed with Logan's Roadhouse macaroni and cheese when we first moved out to Arizona. It took me (what felt like) forever to come up with a recipe that tasted just like the cheesy goodness we became obsessed with. Clearly we were not the only ones because this recipe went semi-viral on Pinterest!

I was pleased when my Holiday Party Post got so much positive feedback--because I fell in love with it as I was putting everything together! All of our tutorials and recipes came out flawlessly on the first try, too!

The popularity of this Breakfast Duo Post totally caught me off guard! This was one of the first few sponsored posts I did for the year, and I was concerned that sharing a non-recipe or non-tutorial post wouldn't do so well on the blog. But I'm so glad that readers were open-minded and seeing that this post did well gave me the confidence to experiment with sharing non-recipe/DIY posts throughout the year.

My DIY Toothbrush & Toothpaste Post was the #1 tutorial post of 2015! Honestly, I think the secret weapon was the mason jar. Everyone has at least one mason jar at home, right? Most likely the reason for the popularity and traffic for this post was because many people thought, "hey I have a mason jar at home--I should do that!"

This was a popular Halloween post for sure! My 5 Black and Orange Food Ideas post was published about 2 weeks before Halloween. I figured most people would be planning for their holiday parties around this time, and my gut instinct was right (this blog post got a lot of traffic in a short amount of time!)

Sriracha sort of blew up on social media. Everyone I knew quickly became obsessed with putting Sriracha on things, meanwhile, I was sitting there already eating something with Sriracha in it! I shared my Sriracha BLT Grilled Cheese sandwich recipe on the blog and it blew up on Stumbleupon (with over 17,000 shares).

Ah, Buzzfeed. It's a blogger's best friend when it comes to traffic referrals. I gained a lot of exposure throughout the year because I was lucky enough to have my One Pan, Pollo Asado Parmesan Pasta dish featured on a popular Buzzfeed article.

#1 The Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cake

And the number one post of 2015 Pumpkin Spice Coffee Cake post! I was lucky enough to have MARS sponsor an advertisement for this recipe (that featured their candy in it), and it brought in thousands upon thousands of hits on the blog!

What were some of your favorite blog posts from this year?

  1. It's so much fun to look back and see what took off in the last year, sometimes surprising, sometimes not so much.
