Learn more about this Alaskan, steel arch bridge that spans 918 feet over Hurricane Gulch.
During my recent Alaska Railroad trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks, I was able to experience crossing over the longest and tallest bridge in Alaska--the Hurricane Gulch Bridge. Stretching just over 900 feet over a 300-foot drop, Hurricane Gulch Bridge is the longest and tallest bridge on the entire Alaska Railroad!

Our trip on the Alaska Railroad it brought us over the bridge. The tour guides on our train gave us time to grab our cameras, and we headed out to the outdoor viewing platform on the Denali Star train.
The train slowed down to 10 mph and then at one point it came to a complete stop in the middle of the bridge, and I was able to snap some great pictures of the gulch below. The day we took our train ride the sky was cloudy, but it has been said that on a clear day you have a good chance at seeing the peak of Mt. Denali while crossing the Hurricane Gulch Bridge.
What a fun trip! Love the photos. I'd love to visit Alaska some day - it looks so pretty!
