My Overnight Stay in a Log Cabin in Palmer, Alaska! Knik River Lodge

I can finally cross "stay in a log cabin" off of my travel bucket list since my most recent trip out to Palmer thanks to my friends at Knik River Lodge!

I have a travel bucket list. I haven't shared it anywhere because I have a lot of silly things on there, but I will admit that one of my bucket list items has been crossed off during my most recent trip to Alaska--staying in a log cabin!

I'm not sure if it had something to do with all of the sitcoms I watched from the 90's or what, but staying overnight in a log cabin is something I have just always wanted to do but never got around to doing it. Any tv show or movie that takes place in a log cabin has always seemed so whimsical and fun to me--my most recent trip to Alaska was incredible and I had many "firsts" while I was there, including my first ever stay in a log cabin at Knik River Lodge in Palmer, Alaska.

There is definitely something romantic about staying in a log cabin. I'm not sure if it's the smell of knotty pine, the lack of Internet, or maybe even how quiet everything is when you're removed from the city and staying up in the mountains--spending my evening in a log cabin was all I could have wanted! I took time to unplug from my hundreds of unanswered emails and all of the work waiting for me on my computer, and I sat out on the deck and admired the views of the mountains surrounding the property. Although the weather was rainy and cloudy while I was staying in Palmer, I had some really beautiful views of the mountains all around my cabin! 

Once my thin (wimpy) Phoenix blood couldn't take the "cold," 65 degrees weather anymore I retreated from my front porch into the comfort of my adorable cabin. 

All of the amenities in my log cabin were exactly what I needed to relax and unwind for a quick overnight trip.

After traveling to and exploring all around Palmer all day, my feet were sore and I was ready to toss off my boots and jump in the shower. The shower pressure was unreal--seriously, I've been to some hotels with really timid shower pressure and this cabin's shower would put those hotels to shame! 

I finished my day relaxing in my cabin and I laid in bed with my book (I still haven't finished it yet by the way--I am reading one of Chelsea Handler's hilariously raw biographies). After I laughed through a few chapters of her book, I fell fast asleep and woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. 

In the morning, I started to feel a little bit of technology withdrawal since checking my email is one of my morning routines and then sought comfort with another one of my morning routines--coffee! I had a handful of instant coffee cups and a coffee maker right in my cabin. Trust me, this girl really appreciates not having to go out in her pajamas just to get a cup of coffee to function in the morning. After a couple more cups of coffee and some more chapters of my book, I checked out of my cabin and headed out for my next Alaska adventure!
