The holidays are officially here!
We haven't put out our Christmas tree yet, but all of our other Christmas decorations are up and we've already been enjoying some festive treats! We are still enjoying some of our old favorites like the Santa Hat Frosted Cupcakes and Hot Tubbin' Gingerbread Men in our cocoa, but this year I opted to try something new as well. One of our all-time, favorite holiday treats is freshly baked donuts with hot cocoa! There is something magical about a donut and some hot chocolate.
Today, I'm sharing a recipe for a new favorite of ours--holiday honeycomb donuts. These warm, sweet cake donuts combine the flavors we love about this season and are packed with delicious Don Victor® Honey!

Today, I'm sharing a recipe for a new favorite of ours--holiday honeycomb donuts. These warm, sweet cake donuts combine the flavors we love about this season and are packed with delicious Don Victor® Honey!
Ingredients:
- Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar
- 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of baking powder
- 2 tablespoons of corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of pumpkin spice
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/2 cup of low-fat milk
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1/2 cup of butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Directions:
- Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees (F).
- Pour the flour, corn starch, baking powder, and salt into a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Add in the eggs and then mix well. Then add in the butter and milk and mix well again.
- Pour in the brown sugar, pumpkin spice, ground ginger, and vanilla extract and mix well until all of the ingredients in the bowl have mixed entirely.
- Chop up the honeycomb from the Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar into small pieces, and then pour the honeycomb into the bowl and mix (the size of the honeycomb will vary depending on your jar, but I added 1/2 cup of chopped honeycomb into the bowl).
- Spray a donut baking pan with non-stick cooking oil, and fill the pan with donut cake batter.
- Bake the donuts in the oven at 350 degrees (F) for 18-20 minutes.
- Allow the donuts to cool completely before trying to remove them from the pan.
- Once the pan is cool to touch and you've waited at least 30 minutes, remove the donuts from the pan.
- Optional: drizzle the donuts with extra honey or your preferred donut glaze (Adam made a cinnamon sugar glaze with these donuts and he said it tasted amazing!)
Many people do not know that honeycomb can be eaten! In fact, I recently discovered this myself and when I saw I had an opportunity to develop a recipe with Don Victor® Honey I jumped on the opportunity so I could try it for myself. Don Victor® Honey is raw, filtered honey, not heated or processed in any other way.
Honeycomb can be used a lot of ways--it tastes great on hot biscuits, pancakes, French toast, and it can even be used as the centerpiece on a cheese and cracker plate (so you can use it for either baking a recipe, or simply using it as a part of your holiday entertaining).
These honeycomb donuts are a wonderful treat for the holidays! You can bake them on Christmas morning and enjoy them with the whole family, or you can even enjoy it as an afternoon treat on New Year's Eve! I picked up all of the ingredients I needed at our local Walmart--I found our Don Victor® Honey in the Hispanic aisle, and then I headed straight for the baking aisle to grab everything else I needed for the donuts.
Don Victor® Honey would make a really nice gift for a co-worker or friend who considers themselves a foodie! Just think how cute it would be to throw a ribbon and bow on the Don Victor® Orange Blossom Comb Honey Globe Jar, or even include the Don Victor® Honey in a gift basket filled with other gourmet pantry items!
