Our Phoenix Daycation at the Omni Scottsdale Resort Adults-Only Pool

Escape the oppressive, Phoenix desert heat and indulge in a little slice of luxury at this adults-only pool.

As the temperature continues to rise and the heat settles here in the valley, the summer becomes increasingly more unbearable with each day of summer. Don't get me wrong, I like that the city empties out and I do enjoy the heat. But not this much heat and with the humidity factored in.

Monsoon season has come and the triple digits along with the humidity have finally hit Phoenix. This city is quiet because all of the tourists have left, that is for sure, but the weather feels oppressively hot and humid to the point where you don't want to be outside for more than 10 minutes at a time unless the circumstances are right.

The only time I want to be outside in Phoenix in the summer is when I'm at the pool, and I have somewhere shaded and cool to retreat to that is nearby. Phoenix resorts are so affordable this time of year because of the heat and the lack of tourists, which makes it an ideal time of year to indulge in a luxury staycation and even spring for a poolside cabana (which is exactly what we did when we spent some time this summer at the Omni Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Montelucia.

The Omni Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Montelucia has three pools on the property, but we believe the best pool to get a cabana would be their adults-only pool--the Oasis pool. Full-day cabana rentals include water bottles, light bites, and a shaded and cooler spot to relax when you're not swimming in the pool. They allow up to 6 guests per cabana, so if there is a group of you going as a family of adults or a group of friends you can easily split the cost to make it more affordable. With our experience with the cabana, I would say that it would comfortably fit 4 adults for an all-day hangout.

One of the best perks of having a cabana apart from having somewhere in the shade to retreat to throughout the day is the poolside dining and cocktail service. The Oasis pool had a really nice menu of starters and entrees to chose from including items like poblano caesar salad, quesadilla, blackened fish and grilled jerk beef tacos, as well as a burger and a sandwich option. They also had four signature cocktails to choose from all of which were fruity and tropical.

While we really enjoyed the Oasis pool--their adults-only pool--we also ventured over to the Kasbah pool which welcomes guests of all ages. Both pools are lovely and have a nice view of the mountains, but we think it all depends on what your comfort level is and what you want from your daycation. For us, we prefer to stay at a pool that is for adults-only when we are given the choice. But it was nice even having our adults-only cabana to have the option to roam the property and check out the other pool and then walk right back to our cabana when we were ready for some peace and quiet.

They have over 20 cabanas on the property to choose from, so the chances of you landing a cabana during the summer are pretty good depending on how short of notice you give them. It's likely that the weekend cabanas will book up faster, so it's always best to give them a call ahead of time to ask about availability.

  1. Oh my gosh, yes. I would love to relax here. Plus I love that it's adults only. Sometimes I want to go to a place and not have to hear kids running around or screeching.
