Beauty Must Haves for Spring 2020

Spring hasn't quite sprung just yet, which means you still have plenty of time to grab all of your spring beauty essentials. Today, I am sharing the details on all of my spring beauty must-haves for 2020!

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer

I have used and abused my Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer to the point where my label is almost rubbed off and there's hardly any left! Anytime I've been on the road it's come with me, and it's been my ride-or-die evening moisturizer which is why it's an absolute must-have for spring!

What's special about this moisturizer is both the single-pump component that it comes in, as well as the incredible rescue cream formula that truly takes good care of my skin. This isn't the first rescue cream I've tried, but this is the first one that I have found with this mix of oils and ceramide complex. It's gotten to the point now where I actually can see and feel the difference the next morning when I don't use this. It's incredible, and it's definitely staying in my skincare routine for the months to come!

If you run on the oily side and you are going to wear makeup throughout the day, I would recommend using this only at night during your evening skincare routine (for whatever reason, it didn't jive well with my primer and foundation, so I revert to using a gel moisturizer for during the day when I'm planning on applying makeup).

Korres Dual Hyaluronic Souffle Body Cream

This souffle is great for right after you've shaved your legs and hop out of the shower.

Whenever I use the Korres Dual Hyaluronic Souffle Body Cream, my skin looks and feels moisturized and it has a bright, peach scent that isn't so obnoxious that you smell like you did when you were in middle school and went to the mall after school to splurge on a bunch of Bath and Body Works lotions that you never ended up using (please tell me I'm not the only one!) The scent does linger, though, so if that's something you're not a fan of you may not like this. I for one don't mind it since I don't normally wear perfume on a regular basis this is like an added bonus to a moisturizing souffle body cream.

It's formulated with hyaluronic acid, shea butter, mango seed butter, and plenty of other ingredients that can aid with moisture and moisture retention. Their claim is that it can hold moisture for up to 24 hours, but living in the dry desert of Phoenix, I can say that it definitely does not hold it that long under my circumstances. But even with that, it will stay on my vanity all spring and summer long because I really enjoy this body care product from Korres.

Georgette Klinger Gardenia Facial Mist

The best part about the Georgette Klinger Gardenia Facial Mist is how versatile it is.

Since it's not exactly a toner or a finishing spray, it works well for multiple uses whether you are wearing makeup or going barefaced. I enjoy using this facial mist after I cleanse my skin in the morning as well as in the evening, and I have also used it as the final step to set my foundation and have brought it with me for 'touch-ups' throughout the day.

It feels refreshing on the skin, and it's made with ingredients like deionized water, aloe leaf juice, glycerin, soluble collagen, and gardenia extract which are all ingredients that my skin loves.

REN Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Primer

I first tried the REN Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Primer in the fall, and I have been loving it since!

That said, I think it really thrives the best in more mild temperatures, though, because I noticed it wasn't performing as well as other times when it was either too hot or too cold outside. It's almost as if you need room temperature warmth to really press this into the skin and then after that, the skin needs to maintain normal body temperature with minimal sweat to really let the primer continue to do its magic.

I can't put my finger on it as to why that is or what ingredient in the primer may have such a negative effect to certain temperatures, but for days when I'm not shivering or sweating profusely, this primer was an absolute dream to wear with every single foundation I tried it with and it's arguably one of the better primers I've used both in how it blurs my pores and sticks to my makeup. When it wasn't "working correctly," my pores appeared more noticeable than other times I would use the exact same products. But then once I warmed up again, my pores appeared blurred again. Weird, I know, but just thought I'd mention it.

Because of my experience with it, I would say that the spring and the fall would be the most ideal times of year to reach for this primer.
She may be a little high maintenance at times, but Miss Perfect Canvas Clean Primer is fabulous!

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Dewy Foundation

If you were looking for something that lets you cut corners when it comes to your wallet, this is it.

While it's not the absolute best foundation I have ever used, there's no denying that the new dewy formula of the cult-classic Wet N Wild Photo Focus foundation is exceptional for the price point. If you're like me and you're the kind of person who already has relatively clear skin and really only needs to apply foundation for an overall even skin tone, this is it. This what you'll want.

But, a warning. This smells like paint (the smells fades after a few minutes, but just a warning).

I mean, c'mon. For just under $7, this foundation is a no-brainer for spring! With the weather still on the cooler side and the flowers starting to bloom, this dewy formula will look gorgeous paired with spring floral toned blushes and lipsticks.

NARS Blush in "Orgasm"

There's a good chance you've at least heard of this blush. And no, not just for its name.

This "orgasm" shade of NARS pressed powder blush is a cult classic! It is a shimmer finish, deep coral blush with hints of gold pearl. This shade is so beautiful and incredibly flattering on so many skin tones, and just a tiny dab goes a long way. This is, and always will be, the perfect spring blush. It gives you that beautiful, natural flushed look that says: "Yes I AM having a fabulous morning, but I'm too ladylike to tell you why..." ;-)

Laqa & Co B'Lighter in "Peacher's Daughter"

This blush highlighter hybrid is perfect for days when you are rocking a bb cream and just want a hint of color and a hint of shine on the cheeks. Or, if you're putting on a full face of makeup you can take it an extra step and layer it on top of the NARS "Orgasm" blush and it looks absolutely stunning. The Laqa & Co B'Lighter is a versatile product that I'll be using all season long since it works so well on the days when I'm keeping my makeup minimal, and because it also pairs well with my favorite spring blush on the mornings when I am applying a full face of makeup.

Glo Skin Beauty Shimmer Brick

If you really want a glow-from-within look, don't forget to highlight.

The Glo Skin Beauty Shimmer Brick in "Gleam" is my go-to for this spring. Depending on the colorway and the eyeshadows that I am wearing, I may pick one of the four colors and just highlight with one, or it looks absolutely stunning if I use a larger brush to swirl around all four colors at once and finish my upper cheekbones with this shimmery and illuminating powder. It's certainly not a "blinding" highlight by any means, but it's the right highlighter for me to keep on my vanity for day to day wear all season long. They also have another shade of their Shimmer Brick for darker skin tones and that one is called "Luster."

If you're wondering where my picture of my Shimmer Brick is the answer is I didn't take one! I have loved my Glo Skin Beauty Shimmer Brick to death--so there's nothing to show you since there's no product left! I will definitely be needing to grab another one so I can use it all season long.

Wander Beauty Wanderess Rush Eyeshadow Palette

When you think of the perfect, traditional spring glam eyeshadow palette this is the kind of colorway that probably comes to mind. The Wander Beauty Wanderess Rush Eyeshadow Palette has 6 shades to get a handful of really elegant and low-maintenance looks that are sure to complement any spring outfit.

This palette also looks really beautiful with autumnal colorways as well, but I really like it for spring because it has a majority of the shades that I would pick up without hesitation this time of year.  More often than not, I want a simple-but-glam look that doesn't take a ton of time to think about, and I also really enjoy eyeshadow palettes that have colors that complement one another regardless of how I use them and the Wander Beauty Wanderess Rush Eyeshadow Palette does that for me.

EM Cosmetics True Gloss

Michelle Phan was the very makeup YouTuber I can remember, and back when I was in college circa 2007, I would sit and watch her makeup tutorials for hours on my laptop in my dorm room. When I learned last year that she had her own makeup brand, I knew it would be good. But I had no idea just how good it would be.

Michelle Phan's makeup company, EM Cosmetics, has a limited range of products. You can't stock up on everything you need for your routine through her, but the items she does have are absolutely stunning and their formulas are well-thought-out and they perform excellently. I've tried a number of her products and enjoyed all of them, but the EM Cosmetics True Glosses are a dream! The shade "Secret Blush" is one of my favorites, and it's ideal for your spring colorways.

There are so many flattering skin tone shades in her collection that would go perfectly with your favorite soft pink and nude lipsticks, and it's just as gorgeous worn on the skin without any other lip products. What I really enjoy about the formula is that it's a gel-based lip gloss, so it's not as drastically sticky as you'd expect it to be. It feels comfortable to wear, but it's definitely not long-lasting so you'll want to keep this one tucked in your handbag for all-day touch-ups.

Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo

In the coming weeks, I will be sharing more info about Maria Nila but for now, let's talk about this shampoo. If you're someone with fine hair who is actively trying to avoid shampooing your hair with parabens and sulfates, you will want to try this shampoo. It. Is. Awesome!

Maria Nila Pure Volume Shampoo is the answer to my call for a 'clean' shampoo that actually has a good lather up and feels as luxurious as I want my shampoo to feel. I've tried other clean haircare brands that feel and look too medicinal, but I don't want that. I want to be able to wash my hair and gently massage my scalp without having to struggle to get a good lather--this shampoo has no problem getting a good lather, which is why I intend to keep using it all season long!

  5. That moisturizer sounds like a good choice for me. My skin is pretty dry in the winter, and although we want it to be spring, we probably still have 6 or more weeks of winter here.
