Our Mini Linky Party | Week 290

Makeup Brushes and Makeup Bag "I Came, I Saw, I Contoured"
So it has almost been a year since I deleted Facebook off of my phone, and this week, Adam decided to join me and deleted his social media apps from his phone.

It's difficult enough as it is to be online right now while trying to maintain enough sanity to get through the workday in the middle of a pandemic. While I want to stay on social media to keep in touch with friends, I felt that deleting Facebook from my phone was the right thing to do and that I could keep in touch with friends and relatives in other ways. For the most part, that has worked out. Sadly, the people who have stopped trying to contact me have validated my anxiety about social media fueling the continuation of toxic relationships out of sheer convenience. At least now I know who really wants to stay in touch.

Doing this (by staying off of social media, for the most part, but with an exception when I need it for work) has really given me an idea of who wants to know how I am doing and who will send me a text message or email me or comment on one of my blog posts. Not only that, but it's helped me start my day with a better chance of having positivity and feeling hopeful. For Adam, he's been feeling like he can't escape reality anymore on social media and just check in with friends without being bombarded by politics and bad news, so I can't blame him for also wanting to delete all his socials from his phone.

Have you stepped away from social media at all in 2020? What has it done for you?
