Can you believe that it's nearly September? This year has been so weird on all fronts.
Time has definitely moved faster this year compared to other years, but at the same time, it also feels like no time has passed since March? It's just a very bizarre phenomenon.
I was doing a little bit of reading about how many people feel this way--how time has become distorted since the pandemic started--and how much we all inherently rely on routines to center ourselves. It just feels like most of spring and summer merged together into a confusing lump of time, and in a way, it feels like I fell asleep back in March and was in some coma-like daze of confusion and have just now snapped out of it realizing it's September.
But it seems strange that September is here. It just doesn't feel right, you know? Not that I have any problem with September, really, because I love the fall (and I will be happy when we don't have three-digit weather anymore). I know that the holiday season won't "be normal" this year, and I've been going through the stages of grief coping with it. But I am very excited that September is here because that means we are drawing closer to Halloween. Adam and I have been decorating and planning our indoor, at-home Halloween festivities so it's been something we can look forward to in all of this uncertainty.

I know what you mean about the time distortion due to the pandemic. And the grief of realizing that social distancing is here to stay until a vaccine. Initially, I thought I could deal with all the cancelled plans for spring, and I could. But it’s looking like it might be several years. And I am grieving.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cathy.
